Customer Guidelines for Ranch and Block Submission

Introduction to Ranch and Block Submission

When a user inserts scan data from the Flash camera into a Diaspora uploader or Smasher processing unit, GPS data is used to deliver results to the appropriate Ranch and Block on Dashboard. We do this by defining a "shapefile" that identifies the perimeter of each block.

Before uploading scan data from Flash the following Block information must be submitted and added to the customer Dashboard. If data is uploaded for a location that is not recognized, processing delays may occur.

Guidelines for Shapefile Submission

Ideally users can provide a “shapefile” showing the polygon outline of the planted area and location of each block.

The preferred format is a GeoJSON file (.json, .geojson) or an ArcGIS/QGIS file (.shp, .dbf, .prj, .qgz) containing the following metadata in an attribute:

  • Customer Name
  • Ranch Name
  • Block Name (Should be unique ID for each block)
  • Area (Hectares or Acres. Please note if it is different from shape: ex. “Planted acres”)
  • Row Spacing (Meters or Feet)
  • Plant Spacing (Meters or Feet)
  • Variety (“Cabernet Franc”, “Scarlet Royal”, “Ventura”, etc.)
  • Crop Type (“Wine Grape”, “Table Grapes”, “Blueberries”, etc.)
  • Trellis (“Vertical Shoot Positioned”, “Sprawl”, “Quad”, “Bush”, etc.)

The standard projections for the shapefile should be EPSG: 4326.

If only pdf/image maps are available, users can send us any maps or addresses and we can work on digitizing them manually. When submitting traditional maps, metadata can be included as a separate .csv file. Click here to download a copy of a metadata template to include with your submission.

In cases where no maps exist, we can meet with customers to define them. Please email your customer success agent or schedule a meeting.

Send all submissions to help@bloomfield.ai.
